SUZANNE CAROLE KUUSKMAE
After moving to California in 1997, and after a few introductory drawing classes at Palos Verdes Art Center, I
started my study of botanical art. As a member of the Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California, I exhibited
my work at various art venues such as LA Arboretum, Palos Verdes Art Center, Chapman University, and Filoli
Gardens, Woodside, CA. My Botanical work is done in watercolor, colored pencil, and graphite pencil and can
be seen at South Coast Botanical Gardens and South Bay Bridge Club, Narbonne Ave, Lomita.
Five years ago I became enthralled with the intense color one can derive from working in pastel so became one
of the founding members of Pastel Society of Southern CA. I acted as Secretary for three years and am
currently Vice President of Planning. I have studied with many nationally known pastel teachers such as: Bob
Rohm, Joe Mancuso, Terri Ford, Elizabeth Mowry, and Richard McKinley to perfect my skills as a pastel artist.
Most recently I attended the bi-annual convention of IAPS in Albuquerque, NM.
I continue to work in pastel, watercolor, graphite, and colored pencil on landscape and botanical subjects; and
Four times during the past few years was a demonstrator at Rogers Gardens, Newport Beach. The past few
summers I have been selected to do botanical demonstrations at the Getty Museum garden area. My pastel
work was shown this month at Rogers Gardens, Newport Beach and the Frame Shop on Aviation Blvd.
